| 3.0 Description
| 3.01 HOOP |
| Each
assembly consists of a durable corrosion resistant tubular aluminum
pipe which is circularly formed into a octagonal shaped hoop.
This hoop is divided into four/two separate equal pieces
(dependent on model selected) which are connected together
for use by Cam-Lock quick couplers located and attached to
the ends of the tubular pipe hoop quarters. This design provides
for easy storage handling and quick assembly. Design also provides
for the inlet portion of the hoop's half section to be utilized
in a half hoop configuration by simply capping off the hoop
half ends with dust caps, which are provided with the hoop.
This half hoop configuration is ideal for certain applications.
The straight flat sections of the aluminum pipe located around
the perimeter of the octagonal hoop allows the user in a
self DeCon application to place one of the flat surfaces
on the bottom of the containment pool while using the hoop
to steady and balance themselves in order to effectively
decontaminate their extremities. |
| 3.02 SPRAY
NOZZLE JETS |
| The
aluminum pipe construction provides an excellent passage for water
to flow to the eight threaded brass spray jets which are equally
spaced around the inside perimeter of the octagonal hoop.
These nozzles provide a uniform and consistent water spray
during the DeCon process even at low pressures. The jet head
is removable for maintenance and is attached to the nozzle
body by means of a hex head threaded nylon nut with an inner
o-ring seal. This configuration allows user to easily adjust
or remove and clean a jet without requiring hand tools should
it be necessary. |
| 3.03 INLET |
| Features,
one threaded water inlet with brass swivel fitting, ABS or polypropylene
plastic on\off valve and brass inlet filter screen with
rubber hose seal is attached to one hoop half. The valve
will accept a standard 3/4 inch threaded male hose end.
The l\4 turn on\off ball valve is easily controlled by the
user in a one person DeCon. The filter screen restricts particles
from entering the system that may clog the hoop outlet jets.
The swivel aids in the connection of water supply hose. |
| 3.04 HANDLE
INLET (OPTIONAL) |
| An
optional assembly is available which relocates the on\off valve
from the hoop to the extension handle near the hand grip loop. This
devise is used when control is desired at the handle and
the extension arm handle is in the fully extended position.
Constructed of threaded aluminum pipe with aluminum mounting
for attachment to outer tube of the extension handle. A brass
swivel and threaded male 3/4" hose fitting is attached to
opposite ends of the threaded aluminum pipe. These swivel
fittings allow relocation and attachment of the on\off valve
normally located at the hoop and a short water supply hose
line to the hoops swivel inlet from the threaded male fitting located
adjacent to the relocated valve on the extension handle. |
| 3.05 HANDLES |
| Two
Tubular aluminum extendable handles are provided with each DeCon
Hoop. Each handle extension tube is constructed of high tensile
strength aluminum tubing for superior strength and light weight.
Two plated lynch pins are attached to the handles extension
tube, one for attachment to the hoop and the other for locking
in place the extendable inner extension tube. A comfortable
and large die formed enclosed looped handle is located at
the outer end of the extension tube for the user to easily
and comfortably hold onto. This handle design allows the
extendable handle to be used easily when the DeCon personnel
are fully suited up. Handle design also allows for replacement
of the extension tube should the tube become damaged. |
| 3.06 STORAGE
BAG |
| A
storage bag (MITI part number DHSB44) is available as optional equipment.
This bag is constructed of a Durable sewn polyester reinforced
fabric and features a convenient closure which simplifies
use. Bag aids in protecting hoop and extension handles from
debris and damage. It also keeps all hoop parts together for
quick locating and convenient storage. |
|
| 4.0 Safety
Features (back
to top) |
| 4.01 Hoop
design provides a safe and highly portable DeCon wash system
which is quickly set up for use on site in emergency situation.
Enables the DeCon Team to allow self DeCon where permissible reducing
manpower. Also reduces over spray, water use and waste water
which must be disposed of by proper means. Minimizing cleanup
costs. |
| 4.02 Construction
of durable |
| Corrosion
resistant and highly inert aluminum. Light weight construction reduces
user fatigue while reducing the chance of injury. |
| 4.03 Coated
with the latest state of the art environmentally safe powder
coating. Baked on at 425 degrees. This coating is very inert to
most agents and is very durable especially when applied to aluminum. |
| 4.04 Ny-Glass
Cam-Lock couplings are incorporated as they are inert to
most agents, extremely durable and are quickly and dependably connected
and in emergency situations. |
| 4.05 Easily
removable brass water jets, and bodies with nylon jet retaining
nuts are used to provide and allow for quick replacement or disassembly
for cleaning should they become clogged. Both materials
are corrosion resistant and are inert to most agents. |
| 4.06 Water
inlet on\off valve is of ABS or polypropylene plastic which
is inert to most agents. Valve provides for quick on\off control
at hoop or at extension arm valve if optional extension arm valve
assembly is used. Both valve configurations allow the system
to remain charged for immediate use when required and puts
on\off control in the hands of the user for maximum control
and efficiency. Removable Protective screen filter, located
at the valve assembly, prevents debris from clogging the
water spray nozzles. |
| 4.07 in
emergency situations the half hoop configuration sets up quickly
and allows hoop to be used in applications where a full hoop could
not be used. |
| 4.08 Extension
handles allow DeCon personnel to distance themselves from
the person or item being washed down. Optional extension handle
on\off valve relocating assembly also allows personnel to keep their
distance while maintaining on\off control. |
|
| 5.0 Special Precautions
| 5.01 Storage |
| Stow
unit in an area where it will not be crushed or damaged by heavy
objects. Stow in areas free of debris that may enter system clogging
outlet jets. Stow assembly together if possible for quick
location and use. Stowage bag available as optional equipment.
Model DHSB44. |
| 5.02 Preparing
unit for storage When preparing Hoop for stowage after use
uncouple hoop sections at quick couplers and allow water trapped
inside hoop to drain out. This will prevent ice forming in cold
weather. Remove extension handles from hoop if used. Reset
extension handles to shortest position. Make sure all lynch
pins are attached to extension handles and securely locked
in place with looped wire bail. Store dust caps in the storage
bag. Place entire assembly, disassembled, in stowage bag
or into stowage area on service vehicle. |
| 5.03 Freeze
up prevention in cold weather applications be sure to let
a small amount of water continue flowing through system after charging
to prevent freeze up. Be sure to drain system supply lines
and components after use to prevent freeze up. |
